Kings coach Pat Gentry talked about his childhood experiences in a short video he was asked to record for Black History Month.”I went to segregated education schools until secondary school. When I went to middle school, I remember there were seven black students in the whole school, and it was challenging because a lot of the white students saw us as people from the throwaway world.””And the funny thing is, some of the [white] kids were very receptive to us, and some didn’t want to have anything to do with us at all, they didn’t want us in their world. The lesson I learned from my parents is that you are no better than anyone else, but you are never less than anyone else, you are unique and you deserve to be treated differently. And you just make sure we’re doing the right things every day, that I’m doing the right things, and everything else will take care of itself.”So far this season, the Kings are 22-37 and 13th in the western Conference.(River end)
